Bleaching stains removes most discoloration from unsealed marble. Because marble is porous you should clean spills immediately or you run the risk of the stone developing stains. Mold stains can be difficult to remove. Even once the mold spores are dead the black staining may remain.

The reaction happens in seconds and corrodes or eats away the marble essentially destroying the polished layer on the surface. Only use bleach on light colored marble and do not.
